CALIFORINIA IS ME STARTED as a campaign to educate the public and create awareness of the etymology of the name of California
It is an American organization that aims to empower Black Indigenous People of Color by sharing real stories about their American heritage in California and by countering misinformation through engaging education and entertaining publications.
OUR MISSION
The mission is clear: to continue celebrating the wondrous achievements of our ancestors, educate and uplift, and work towards reclaiming the misrepresented Black iconography in the rightful names such as “Calafia” and “California,”

The resilient truth, once suppressed, will inevitably resurface! We, as descendants of our courageous ancestors, stand as fervent advocates for the noble cause of freedom and justice for all.
